The Derflinger Ranch, home to Wade and Lorena Derflinger, is located on the Moreau River north of Faith, SD. Wade was raised on the home place and later went on to graduate from Faith High School. He married Lorena Dahlquist, and they have four children, Martie Jo, Melonie, Bucky, and Meridee.
In 1993, Wade and Lorena purchased adjoining land from their lifetime friends, Ralph and Riley Miller, and then began building their herd of registered Angus cattle by purchasing registered heifers from Schaff Angus Valley. Wade and Lorena continued to increase their herd using the best genetics available by careful selection in their own herd and others. They began selling registered Angus cattle by private treaty at the ranch and for several years held their annual bull sale at Faith Livestock. In 2011, due to health reasons, they decided to sell the bulls by silent auction instead. This has worked well and their customers have been very pleased with the offering.
Wade and Lorena enjoy spending time with their family. Their children and grandchildren are the most important thing in their life and come before everything else. Without them, Wade and Lorena feel none of this would have been possible.
